The title of the picture is incorrect.
In the lower right of the picture you can see a train of mine cars and a Loco. There was never any rail track laid in the chalk quarry. Chalk was excavated by a Smith 21 face shovel and loaded into shuttle dumpers then tipped into a crusher/screed. The crushed and screened chalk was then transported to the railway siding at Holton le Moor by dump truck
In the centre of the picture you can see the RB 24 face shovel loading the shuttle dumpers which tipped the iron ore into the mine cars and then hauled to the main site and tipped in to a bunker and transported to the Holton le Moor siding by dump truck
